Mission, vision, values & equity commitment

We believe in the power of humanity

Humor and humility are at the heart of all we do

Our mission

NAMI Colorado Springs creates and cultivates a welcoming community of peers who educate, support and advocate for people and families living with mental health conditions.

Our vision

Anyone who struggles with a mental health condition can find support, treatment, healing and greater well-being in a community that’s free from stigma.

Our values

7 odes to connection, community and compassion

If NAMI Colorado Springs had an instruction manual, it might look something like this.

Volunteers are vital

We value and celebrate volunteers, who are at the heart of what we do.

Accountability matters

We believe that accountability to our mission, clients and community is fundamental.

Compassion in action

We nurture compassion for our clients, their families, one another, and our community.

Live your best life

We embrace hope and believe in recovery.

Never stop learning

We approach our work with passion, humility and a commitment to constant learning.

Peers are powerful

We are guided by the belief that individuals living with mental health conditions are the best champions for their own recovery and are well positioned to support and guide others.

We connect through experiences

We value the personal mental health experiences of staff and volunteers, and honor the vulnerability of each individual.

Our commitment to equity

Because mental health is all of us

NAMI Colorado Springs is actively building a community in which every employee, volunteer, member and person served — regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, education, disability, veteran status or other dimension of diversity — feels valued and respected. We are committed to expanding and deepening our reach by dismantling barriers to mental health support related to cost, cultural awareness, geographic location and stigma.

Our programmatic focus areas

When NAMI started 40-plus years ago, it was family members helping family members. Today, it's that and much more.

People living with mental health conditions

Often referred to as our “peer programs,” these are groups and classes that aim to help people move toward recovery.

Family members and other loved ones

It’s a fact: Consistent support can profoundly improve outcomes for those who are experiencing mental health challenges.

Community members and groups

Since mental illness cuts across all areas of society, so should NAMI’s education programs and outreach efforts.
